"Church" gets headlines, DEAD kids do not

I've already opined about the "poser church" shooting in my hometown of Knoxville, TN that happened this weekend but there are a couple of tidbits I wanted to add on about the news of the day.  If you want an informed opinion on the day's news events read on, if not see ya later....... there are other columns on Town Hall to read at your leisure.  Not nearly as thought-provoking as mine, however!

About the so-called "church" shooting:
1) The media is having a self-induced orgasm over this story as a potential way of linking conservative "Bible-thumpers" to violence but the real story is the "poser church" that was the victim here.  Why are we calling a bunch of leftists (i.e. pseudo-communists) who gather to watch a play called "Annie", a "church"?  The answer escapes me folks and I refuse to let it happen.

2) Isn't it funny that the media is making THIS national news but 2 years ago when 4 black people abducted 2 white college students in Knoxville, raped them, killed them and dismembered them, the NATIONAL MEDIA IGNORED IT!  I'm a news junkie and didn't find out about the case for 3 months!  Do a search for:  "The Christian-Newsom murders" on your favorite search engine but have a wastecan at the ready because what you read may make your stomach nauseous beyond belief!

3) The guy who carried out this shooting is a nut, in simple terms.  The opportunistic charlatans out there who try to paint this as a political issue and link it to conservatives or talk radio are only making themselves look foolish in the process.  No doubt the gun-control zealots will be right behind them in their quest to make political hay out of this golden opportunity as well!

About the new deficit numbers........
Today, it was released by the White House budget office that our 2009 budget shortfall will be 482 billion dollars, a mere 3% of our gross domestic product in these bankrupt "Divided States of America".  Oh goodness, let the handwringing and the bally-hoo from the rooftops begin anew!  Well, if you think this deficit is a big deal, I've got news for you.  Ya ready?  THIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT IS COMING WHEN MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY GO BANKRUPT!  That's right folks, 3% of GDP is laughable when you consider the train-wreck coming as a result of the "baby boomer" generation retiring.  Don't believe me?  Do your own research and see for yourself.

About falling gasoline prices......
Works every time it is tried, just like a condom right? haha  The Law of Supply and Demand is just like the Law of Gravity, it CAN be overcome in the short-term but never in the long-term.  We all knew that the painfully expensive gasoline would lead to reduced consumption.  Less consumption would mean greater supplies and eventually price would come down.  But something you might not have thought about.....

Now, everyone is watching the falling gas price and not sure how far it will go.  People are resisting the urge to fill-up and only putting in as much gas as they need for the immediate future, in the hope that they can buy it later when it goes lower in price.  The result?  Gas is in a massive free-fall through the 3 dollar range.  I stopped last night to put in JUST 10 BUCKS WORTH, the guy next to me stopped at the same amount and I said to him "You're hoping to buy more when it gets lower in price, like me, right?" He laughed and said "You know it!"

Here in East Tennessee, we've seen it fall from $3.95 to as low as $3.69 in less than 2 weeks.  Keep up the conservation everyone and put the hurt on the oil companies.  Only put in as much gas as you desperately need and "....where she stops, nobody knows"!

"Poser Church" shooting in Knoxville

You might have heard over the weekend that a shotgun wielding man shot up a "church" in Knoxville, right?  Well you heard wrong!  The man opened fire all right, but on a building full of people watching the play "Annie", NOT a church.  By my definition, a church is where people go to worship and give thanks to GOD but my research has shown me that this "church" worships something else.

The big news story here was the uncovering of what I've called a "poser church" filled with people who probably wouldn't know God if they met him tomorrow.  Go to their web site and read what they believe.  Through all the flowery speak, you will notice one word that is strikingly absent:  God.  Their website uses words like "prayer", "tolerance", "harmony" and "worship" but a reference to God is never made.  Why is that?  Because for liberals, their God is Government!  They worship at the table of Government with its lawmaking power and its ability to confiscate wealth and liberty.  Government has the power to instill the "social justice" the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (TVUUC) so desperately seeks for our society.  "Thank-GOvernment" for that, I guess.

Tell me something:  This church has a relationship with the ACLU, a despicable organization which defends pedophiles who belong to a group called NAMBLA!  This church also associates with environmental extremists at Greenpeace and the Sierra Club and shares a common agenda of defeating capitalism in the name of "environmental defense".  Doesn't this sound more like the Democrat Party headquarters than a place to read the Bible and worship God?  I think so.

Barack Obama: Europe's favourite

Barack...Barack....he's our man, if he can't do it.....GREAT!  No, that wasn't the chant today in Germany as Obama READ one hell of a speech.  Oh yeah, "Mister Teleprompter" is great at reading a speech....Zero mistakes.  But what did he really say?  Actually, nothing but boilerplate drivel.  Awwww.... what an unadulterated let-down.

The reason he gave an empty speech should not be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention.  Obama isn't a deep guy who's brimming with intellectual profoundity.  He talks in baseless platitudes that sound good to people who are either stupid or ignorant.  "We want change" he will say to people but he never says what KIND of change.  Does he mean change in our pockets or does he mean something more substantive that should really worry us? :)~

My prediction is this:  BARACK OBAMA IS GOING TO GET BEAT LIKE A DRUM THIS NOVEMBER for a variety of reasons.  Not the least of which is that he's an inexperienced "back bencher" who couldn't articulate a cogent foreign affairs stance even if his life depended on it.  Just wait until the debates and you are going see Bambi caught in the headlights of McCain's "straight talk express"!  Early polling may show him in the lead but who are pollsters talking to?  Are they standing outside a Piggly Wiggly in podunk USA or are they in front of the post office in downtown Detroit?  Are they calling home phones or cell phones?  I haven't had a home phone line in 5 years.  Something to think about folks, when you hear endless polling data which is after all, meant to shape your thinking NOT report it.

Barack Obama:  Europe's favourite but is he ours?  I think not.  I'll go one step farther and spill ALL the Meat and Taters folks.  I see Obama headed for a George McGovern-style (1972) defeat with victories only in Illinois, California and my former homestate of Massachusetts.  (Big surprise on that last one!)

Ten words to describe the "Black movement"

After the Jesse Jackson flap this week, I've come up with 10 words to describe the "Black movement" in America.  If you have any problems with them, feel free to email me and I'll expound at length for your benefit.  Notice I've refrained from using the silly term "African-American" which was coined many years ago as a form of appeasement to blacks.  If we're going to use that term, then I insist on being referred to as an "Irish-American", in lieu of white.

Today's "black movement" in America is:  unbelievable, inconsistent, opportunistic, irresponsible, disingenuous, reprehensible, discredited and finally exposed.

It's ok for Jesse Jackson to use the "N-word" but not okay for others to use it?  Give me a break.  As Hillary would say:  "....that would require the willing suspension of disbelief."

Speaker Pelosi: The Biggest Loser

Nancy Pelosi is out doing the impossible.  Yes, that's right!  She has somehow found a way to make herself look like an even bigger loser than before.  She was already out achieving status as the worst House Speaker in U.S. history but yesterday's performance sealed her fate!  Nevermind the fact that her troops have yet to pass any legislation of substance, besides a paltry increase in the minimum wage.  But let's take a look at the Congressional approval ratings during her tenure.  At best, they have been 25 percent and lately they have slumped to an all-time low of 9 percent.  That's right, let me say it again, 9 percent!!  We could put a bunch of baboons in the Congress and I bet they would get a better approval rating than Nancy Pelosi's socialist jackasses.

The handwriting is on the wall folks.  This Democrat-led Congress is a disaster for the nation and a disgrace to our proud tradition of placing people in control of the legislative branch who could actually get something done.  Isn't it ironic that the War in Iraq, the primary reason Democrats were given the Congress, has now turned around in amazing fashion and troop reductions are being planned.  If only we could have achieved this level of success before the 2006 elections, perhaps the legislative disaster we face today could have been averted, thereby alleviating the massive pain many of us feel.

But the past is the past, we cannot change it.  All we can do is learn from it and look to the future.  The future of this once great nation is downright scary with such dysfunctional Democrat leadership at the helm.  We are like a spaceship with no gyroscopic control, spinning on all 3 axes simultaneously.  Just the thought of it makes me want to lose my cookies all over the computer keyboard!  That is why we are indeed desperate for change Speaker Pelosi and that change means it is time for YOU TO GO!

Either throw them out of the majority in November or it's time for a revolution.  And as I've said before, revolution is never pretty.

Democrat capitulation soon on oil

Today was a sad day as Tony Snow was laid to rest in Washington.  But I've decided to dry my eyes and plod onward.  This column has been getting lots of hits lately and from all over the country, so there's reason to be somewhat upbeat.  The energy crisis is making our summer of 2008 a "cruel, cruel summer", indeed.  People are buckling down for the long haul and maybe, just maybe they are turning off the reality television (aka mindless drivel for Double D's) and focusing their attention on sites such as Town Hall.

Some of you may recall what I wrote weeks ago:  That this energy pain is a GOOD thing because it will wake people up and finally gain their attention.  Even though 9/11 couldn't do it, things are different this time because high energy prices affect the most sacred thing on God's green earth:  THE MIGHTY WALLET!  Once the wallet is threatened, people always perk right up and pay attention.

Democrats are beginning to get the message and will capitulate on drilling for domestic oil supplies soon, of this I am positive!  Public opinion pols are showing as much as 75 percent of respondents in favor of opening up offshore areas and Alaska to drilling.  Keep in mind that the Democrat leadership is as unprincipled as they are cowardly so these polling results will have a marked effect on their resolve.  Dems offered up a half-hearted, ham-handed bill today to go after oil speculators and it failed miserably.  Now, they will get serious and push for legislation soon to follow President Bush's leadership earlier this week on lifting offshore drilling prohibitions.  Sure, it will take a few years for the oil to flow but no matter how long it takes, we need the oil sooner or later.  So let's drill ourselves silly in the meantime and give everyone hope for pete's sake!

Democrats:  It's time to either lead, follow or get the heck out of the way!  Block domestic energy at your own peril this November.

Bad news for the "Get out of Iraq Caucus"

There's bad news and good news for the "Get out of Iraq Caucus" and since I'm an eternal optimist, the good news first!  We are beginning to get out of Iraq as things have improved massively on the ground.  The bad news is that we are ramping up our military effort in Afghanistan, big time!

This is really bad news for Democrats and I will tell you why.  During the past several years, what has been their talking point about the War on Terror?  "We supported the effort in Afghanistan but never supported invading Iraq because Iraq was never a threat."  Sound familiar folks?  If so, you've been paying attention to the left's sophistry, give yourself a pat on the back.

The problem is this:  The historical record has the Democrats in a corner as we ramp up the Afghanistan operation and draw down the Iraq operation.  President Bush can pour as many troops as his generals dictate and request as much money for equipment as he needs, the Democrats must helplessly nod approval and support the effort.  If they mount opposition, all the president needs to say is:  "But we were told all along by the Democrat leadership that they supported the effort in Afghanistan.  Are we to assume they were not telling us the truth?"  Can you say:  "Checkmate"? :)

Bottom line:  Democrats dug themselves a hole on the Afghanistan issue as they took their eye-off-the-ball with regard to it.  Instead they concentrated all their anti-war focus on Iraq and this gross miscalculation affords the president an opportunity to paint them as the truly disingenuous liars we all know them to be.

This has to be the first real smile I've had all weekend, how sweet it is....

Tony Snow: God's press secretary now

Meat and Taters Editor's Note:  It seems that your humble correspondent and Roger Ailes (President of Fox News Channel) think alike!  I just heard him say the following:  "If God needs a press secretary, he's got Tony Snow."  Well, for the record so nobody labels me a copy-cat, I came up with the title for this column around 11am EDT and the interview with Ailes aired at 1:37pm EDT.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems funny to cry over the passing of someone you never knew.  But that's just what I did upon waking this morning and hearing the news that a brilliant and wonderful man like Tony Snow is no longer in our midst.  Though very saddening, the news was by no means a shock as I had my suspicions ever since he stepped down from the White House Press Secretary post in September 2007.  Here's what I wrote about Tony in April of this year:

"The latest reports I have heard is that former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is in the hospital.  God please have it be tonsilitis or a sprained ankle and not the return of that relentless malady known as cancer.  Last summer, when he left the White House after just a short stint as the mouthpiece for the administration, I couldn't help but have a sneaking suspicion that the cancer had returned.  He claimed that he just wanted to get out and earn more money but then it hit me!  That's the EXACT reason a man with a terminal illness would want to get out and hit the lecture circuit.  He has limited time left to provide for his family and each day of potential earnings not to mention time spent with the family, is critically irreplaceable.

But I hope I was wrong last summer as I hope I'm wrong now.  Pray for Tony Snow as I do and hope that God keeps him on this earth a good, long while because we need men of his calibre desperately.  I'll never forget his finest moment, right after 9/11 when he gave a poignant "Parting Thoughts" oratory at the end of Fox News Sunday.  He fought back tears as he delivered solemn words of remembrance and they fit the moment perfectly, he said 'We watched as people we didn't know, slaughtered those we did.....'"

Tony Snow:  he is the most convincing proof I can find that the good are the ones who die young.

Rebuild the towers.....and please do it soon.

It was revealed recently that the Freedom Tower in NYC has hit a few bumps in the concrete, so to speak.  That's right, all is not going too swimmingly in the Big Apple and we need to take notice of the discord.  Reason being that many of us do not like the new design and perhaps this event can give us a window of opportunity for action.  Thank goodness!

At the risk of getting everyone a little bit misty, let me make a confession.  As an aviator who flew the skies of NY City for many years in the mid-90's, I feel as if a part of me perished when the towers fell that September day.  Each and every time I fly into the Big Apple, I look to the skyline and remember the "good old days" when I could line up on those towers, like I did so many times before.  I feel a sense of emptiness, I even shed a few tears and I wish there was some way we could rebuild them.  Why?  Because sometimes that is the only way to heal a wound so deep, that it cannot be healed any other way.  Think about it....

So let's freaken do it!!!  Somebody with the power and the cash, step up and say that we are going to rebuild the WTC complex the way it was on the day before 9/11.  That way, the wounds can be somewhat healed for all of us.  I know the families will never get back what they lost, just as I will never get back my family that perished in 3 separate but equally tragic accidents.  Somehow, I managed to trudge onward and upward to a level that is, under the circumstances quite admirable.  They surely will as well.  Of this, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever!

In November 1993, I traveled down the Hudson River's "VFR Corridor" in a Cessna Skyhawk, bound for Annapolis, Maryland.  My goal was to visit friends at a football weekend at the Naval Academy but I got a gift from the trip that was much greater in the end.  That was because my camera captured images of the World Trade Center, under my left wing that will live time immortal.  I have a picture on my wall that reminds me of our greatness as Americans, of our limitless ingenuity and our tireless spirit.  Let's rebuild the damn towers and remind the rest of the world that America is KING and we bow to nobody, that's right NOBODY!

T. Boone Pickens: Welcome to Fantasy Island

T. Boone Pickens is an amazing and impressive man whose ideas have merit.  But he's taking a trip to Fantasy Island if he thinks his plan can save this country in the short-term.  The financial melt-down we are experiencing IS REAL and comes as a result of a "perfect storm" as I've called it.  Just to refresh memories or for the benefit of people who are new to Meat and Taters, it consists of:

1) a global economy that has left America in the dust because of many factors.
2) a housing melt-down driven by irresponsible corporate and individual behavior.
3) a domestic energy policy over 30 years that is the laughing stock of the world.
4) the massive load of entitlement spending gone wild, it's driven our debt wild.
5) the costs of terrorism since 9/11, very necessary but also very costly.

By far, the biggest of these "perfect storm" causal factors is a hopelessly inept energy policy.  Not one single American citizen had any clue whatsoever that fossil fuels would double in price in less than 2 years.  The blame for this RESTS SQUARELY ON THE SHOULDERS OF THOSE POLITICIANS WHO HAVE VOTED AGAINST EXPANSION OF DOMESTIC ENERGY.  Before you vote for one of these pricks, you better take a look at how they have voted on the following over the past 30 years:

1) offshore drilling
2) drilling in land areas such as in Alaska
3) construction of nuclear power plants
4) expansion of clean burning coal plants
5) the gasification of coal
6) construction of more refineries

You can go to a site called "On the Issues" (link at bottom of page) and look up EVERY one of the above votes for your candidate.  If they've voted against a majority of these bullet points, it's time to give their sorry arse the ole heave-ho!  I mean it folks!

This country has to get hot on domestic energy expansion ASAP and if it doesn't, we are looking at a very painful melt-down of the auto, trucking and airline industries that could very well lead to a protracted recession or even A GREAT DEPRESSION.  T. Boone Pickens' idea to build a "windmill on every street corner" is a noble and commendable idea but it is not practical in huge parts of the country, namely the SOUTHEAST where suitable wind speeds are not present throughout most of the year.  Furthermore, his plan will take YEARS to implement as it will require the building of some 650,000 windmills!!!  Who plans to pick-up the cost of converting automobiles to burn natural gas instead of gasoline?  This is a costly conversion and will not be readily embraced by families who are climbing out of massive financial sinkholes brought on by THIS energy crisis!!!!

The better option is to adopt a muti-tiered, comprehensive approach which addresses things of catastrophic consequence with rapidity and leaves less grave factors for a little bit later.  THE PRIORITY NOW SHOULD BE TO GET MORE FOSSIL FUELS, NOT TODAY BUT YESTERDAY!!!!  The jet airliners we fly are not going to burn anything but kerosene in our lifetimes, of this I will bet my a$$!  You do remember that Mister Meat and Taters is an airline pilot, right?  So I should know what in tarnation I'm talking about here.

Call your Congressman, call your Senators and tell 'em what I just wrote, not later today, certainly not tomorrow........TODAY!!!!  The time for action is now, we haven't a second to lose.  Embrace the T. Boone Pickens plan but be pragmatic in your understanding of how long and difficult its implementation will be for all of us.  We have an arduous road ahead of us my fellow Grassroots Troopers, but if we can pull it off, we'll be a better country for it.

Traveling through history, Meat and Taters Style

Reflection..... July is an important month for just such an activity.  This is my 3rd July at the helm of the Meat and Potatoes Blog and as a dogged loyalist who knows the stakes in our fight, YOU realize my proclivity for drawing parallels through history.  Having a historical perspective is absolutely essential because without it, we cannot understand the present.  Nor can we predict the future with any degree of success for as the saying goes:  "History repeats itself."  So why pick July for a trip in the Meat and Potatoes "time machine"?

It was 2 years ago on July 10th 2006 that our country was at the end of it's rope on the Iraq War.  Every day, our televisions were filled with images of people picking up body parts and battling raging infernos, started by car bombs.  Sunnis were killing Shiites, Shiites were killing Sunnis and thousands were dying each month, to include many brave Americans.  President Bush was entertaining Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi, an avid Elvis fan and the two decided to take Air Force One down to Memphis for a visit to Graceland.  Here's what I wrote about the historical lessons of such a visit:

"Did you hear about the visit last week by President Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi to Graceland?  No doubt you saw the entertaining antics of Koizumi as he donned Elvis sunglasses, strummed his air guitar and even belted out a couple of lyrics.  It was great fun and made for a terrific "photo op" but there was something much more important in play.

Just think about it!  We had the son of a man who had killed the enemy during World War II, hanging out with the son of a man who was the enemy.  Go back 60 years and ask someone if these barbarians from Japan, who commit suicide with their aircraft will ever be our friends.  They'd say that you're crazy right?

Fast forward to present day where our brave men and women battle a fanatical enemy during much different times.  The media stands by to undermine every success and alert the enemy when new tactics are utilized.  The American public is divided bitterly and many are UNinformed about what is at stake!  It would be easy for our troops to become disenchanted and lose hope unless they become students of history and look to the lessons of the past.

This visit by Koizumi provides just such a lesson.  It reminds the deep thinkers in our society that enemies can become friends but only if they are vanquished by the opponent who holds the moral high ground.  Just as we helped Japan rebuild its burned and smashed cities so they could become a manufacturing TITAN, we will help the middle east rebuild so their oil supplies can bring them untold riches.

This will require vision and steadfast leadership, which we are thankfully getting from President Bush.  Living by his own words stated the day after 9/11, "We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail", he is remaining committed to spreading freedom in the middle-east, so that terrorism cannot survive over the long-term and America will remain FREE!"

Fast forward one year from this event and Democrats were then in control of the Congress, attempting to wrest control of the war away from President Bush and violate the U.S. Constitution.  Remember, the Speaker of the House is not the Commander-in-Chief, nor is the Senate Majority Leader.  The Constitution is clear that the President is Commander-in-Chief and Congress can ONLY control the funding of the war, nothing else!  The Democrats were using every "back-door" methodology they could think of, to undermine the war and bring about a defeat such as:  requiring soldiers to spend an extended time period at home before returning to the front, restricting which units could be used in Iraq and Afghanistan and mandating that troops be pulled out by a certain deadline.  President Bush went to the podium ONE year ago today and made it clear that he was Commander-in-Chief and we were staying in Iraq, I said this:

"President Bush is on the tube right now and he's pounding the podium in a way that is reminiscent of "The Father of 9/11".  Now, Bush isn't having a Clinton-esque "Chernobyl-Style" meltdown.  Oh no, he's pounding the podium to make the point to subversive left-wing reporters that we are not backing down in Iraq.

In case you missed it yesterday, a Democrat-led Congress again attempted to steal power away from the Commander-in-Chief by attaching an amendment to a bill on Capitol Hill that would have severely restricted troop deployments.  Once again, these pussies who could have cut off funds for the war MONTHS ago, are trying "back door" tactics to undermine the effort.

Let me summarize and keep the President's message simple, in fine "Meat and Potatoes Blog" fashion:   All you wimps, cowards, pussies, subversives and ignorant fools out there who don't know what's at stake in Iraq.  We are NOT leaving while I am president because Iraq is the battlefield with al-Qaeda and Iran.  Once al-Qaeda has been vanquished and Iraq's sectarian violence has been quelled, the political process can continue safely and America can begin to withdraw.  Now EVERYONE GROW UP like adults and buckle down, make the World War II generation proud and show some resolve, for a change."

This week we were told by the mainstream media, formerly the purveyor of news dissemination in America, that Iraq has turned around in massive fashion and troop reductions are being planned for the future.  Fifteen of the eighteen "benchmarks" for political progress have been met and the violence is a mere pittance of what it was 2 July's ago when President Bush took that trip to Graceland.  It is clear now that IRAQ IS A SUCCESS despite Democrat attempts (and weak-kneed Republicans mind you) to engineer a pull-out.  President Bush is to be commended for his steely resolve and as the final arbitor, history will judge him well.

Congratulations President Bush but more importantly, congratulations to our beloved American fighting men and women.  As our most valued national treasure, you have taken your place in the history books and you will be there forever.

Limbaugh makes millions, we should celebrate!

The biggest threat to socialism's advance in Congress has snagged a new contract worth 400 million over 8 years.  Now the leftists can have a collective episode of "Tourette's Syndrome" as they lament ad nauseum about how the amount is too large and it reflects capitalism run amok.  Ho hum, yackity schmakity, spare me you whiny, little douchebags!

Rush may be a haughty bloviator who takes few callers and spends half the show patting himself on the back but he deserves every penny of that 400 large!  There's a simple reason for it and can you guess what that reason may be?  Because the FREE market supports it.  The free market is the reason we enjoy all of the things in our lives that make it wonderful.  I wouldn't be crusing around the luscious mountain curves of East Tennessee in a torch red 2000 Chevy Corvette (getting 32 mpg mind you..hee hee) without the free market that produced such a "mac daddy" automobile!  I also wouldn't be flying a passenger jet for a U.S. airline as captain (for an acceptable sum) without the free market, which in turn allowed me to buy the sweet Corvette.  See how everything is connected in our economy?

So as you listen to the haters complain about Rush's Reward and slander him about this and that, just think to yourself.  The free market is alive in Talk Radio and EVERYWHERE!  There's a simple reason that Limbaugh is able to garner such a mind boggling sum of loot and it is because CONSERVATISM IS GROWING ITS RANKS!!!!!!  More people are tuning in, the FCC is licensing more stations "across the fruited plain" as Rush would say and Talk Radio is even slowly taking over the FM radio band.  Now I'll bet you didn't know that did you?  Markets such as Knoxville, Minneapolis, Bangor and Pittsburgh are all FM only, the libs have got to be shakin' in their boots folks!

So be congratulatory about Rush's "phat" paycheck, it's a sign that we are winning this fight against the leftists and in 8 years, I hope he gets an even bigger raise, as well.  I also hope he invites me to his house to watch that monstrosity of a television he talks about as well as show him how to drive that Maybach 57S!

An "albatross" around a president's neck.

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm writing alot.  So what, nobody's reading and I don't care.  I'm not writing this stuff to have it read, rather I'm writing it as a historical record of my thoughts, observations and predictions.  Call it an "internet diary" of sorts, where a few people are lucky enough to have picked the "lock"!

This time I'm writing about a Democrat strategy of late, that differs from the Democrat strategy employed since taking back the control of Congress in November 2006.  Remember what I've written in the past?  Democrats misled the American people into voting for them with the understanding that they would end the War in Iraq.  Since that time, the effort has been to hang the Iraq War like an "albatross" around the neck of President Bush by whatever means possible.  Pass any "back-door" resolution, offer up any restriction to tie the hands of the Commander-In-Chief and when all else fails, come out and publicly call the commanding general in the field a LIAR!  That claim may have been valid in the 1990's with General Wesley Clark but it is way out of line with General David Petraeus.

Through it all, the Democrats have failed and failed quite spectacularly I might add!  They offered up over 55 resolutions to cut-off funding and just yesterday, they capitulated with the final Iraq funding bill to be signed into law by President Bush.  A $162 Billion dollar offering that gives our troops everything they need through the middle of 2009, how magnaminous of them!  Yeah.......right, they didn't do it voluntarily.

So now, after getting their legislative "clocks cleaned", where do Democrats turn?  What "albatross" can they grab hold of, to tarnish the Bush presidency?  Keep in mind what I have written in past columns about their motivation and what they hope to accomplish by sticking it to George W. Bush.  Presidents are always judged relative to the president who comes before them and the one who comes after them.  Their goal is to make Bill Clinton (aka The Father of 9/11) look better in the prism of history by making President Bush look like the biggest loser on earth.  They tried subverting the Iraq War and that didn't work so now it is time to destroy the economy.

President Bush inherited an economy in shambles and the historical proof is overwhelming.  Remember the corporate scandals of Enron, MCI Worldcom and Global Crossing?  Remember the "dot-com" implosion that wiped out billions of investor wealth as we bid farewell to such "virtual titans" as Pets-dot-com and Etoys?  Remember a NASDAQ index at 5,100 before it plummeted to 900 right as Bush took office?  Remember terrorist attacks that caused an erosion in confidence that sent the DOW index down to 7,500?  Well if you don't, it is time to shun embarrassing ignorance and gain a clue because it happened.  Now, we are faced with similar and perhaps more daunting challenges but the Democrat-controlled Congress seeks to do nothing.  Weeks have passed with energy prices headed to the stratosphere and people panicking like it's October 1929 while Democrats sit on their hands and decorate the sidelines.  Now I ask you....WHY?

I believe the Democrats have a new strategy and that is to hang this economic malaise around the neck of President Bush as their final way to exalt the flawed and fraudulent Clinton presidency.  The American people, as foolhardy as they are ignorant, will of course blame our president for the problems even though the fundamental problems have been many decades in the making.  Democrats know this but they don't care a whit.  The ends justify the means in their world view and it is this fact that gives us the greatest insight to their hideousness as human beings.

2 dead burglars, 1 live shooter

Remember the Texan who shot the illegal aliens on a shopping spree at his neighbor's house?  Well he's a free man today as the grand jury declined to indict him on any charges.  Yet another victory for freedom loving Americans from coast to coast and right after the Supreme Court victory of last Thursday on the 2nd amendment.  My goodness, we all need to party like it's 1999!

I wish it was 1999, back then our only enemies (or so we thought) were the leftists in the Clinton administration, who were trying to take away our freedoms and raise our taxes.  Little did we know that radical Islam was planning its assault in just 2 short years and illegal aliens were mounting an offensive on our southern borders.  A "lapdog" left-wing media kept us ignorant to those threats.

But not anymore because today we are informed by other media forms such as the internet and talk radio.  We know that illegal aliens like the ones shot by Joe Horn in Texas are roaming the country, by the millions and many have criminal intent.  The bottom line lesson of this case is:  shoot first and ask questions later.  You feel a threat to your existence by people who have criminal intent, you defend yourself and your family.  Then let the legal system make an objective assessment just like in this case.  Who gives a damn what the media says and who gives a damn if you end up on trial.  What's the old saying about judgement day?  "I'd rather by tried by 12 than carried by 6."  That about sums up my feelings on this case.

If you read the coverage about this case by ABC News, it's obvious they don't like the outcome.  So sad too bad, you want to call me an extremist because I don't share their sorrows, then go ahead.  You're wrong, I'm not an extremist rather I'm a PRAGMATIST.  Crime is out of control in this country and illegal aliens are having a greater hand in its occurrence.

The sensitive types at ABC News were detail-oriented enough to point out that the 2 suspects were shot in the back.  Would that be like some of Clinton's ATF Agents at Waco in 1993?  Just curious.

"Obama-nation" strategy: 1992 with a twist.

Wesley Clark's attack on John McCain's record of military service was indeed an "Obama-nation" yesterday and deserves to be addressed as it gives insight to the left's modus operandi going forward into the election season.  Obama Management, Inc. knows they cannot attack McCain directly on his military record (that would be unpatriotic) so that job is left to those scandalous surrogates such as Clark.  Just as Bill Clinton gave politicians a bad name, Wesley Clark gives generals one too.  He's either a liar or lives in his own little world of alternate reality, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and go with the latter.  If he was a liar, it wouldn't be the first West Point grad to gain that distinction, after all it was right here on the Meat and Potatoes Blog that Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) (USMA '71) was ripped into for his behavior as a charlatan about the Iraq War.  Truly shameless how these service academy graduates sell their souls to a leftist movement and place their nation at risk.  Though I'm a nobody, this Annapolis grad will not follow suit!

Clark's attack provides the "twist" to an election campaign that is all too reminiscent of 1992.  In fact, this election year could play the part of a Clinton/Gore sequel almost to a tee.  Why?  Well, let's look at the situation we have at hand.  A formerly good economy that is falling apart at the seams due to forces beyond the president's control.  In 1992, it was the end of the "Cold War" that necessitated a decrease in defense spending and businesses had to re-tool, while this time it is a meteoric rise in the cost of energy.  In either case, the economic pain will be exploited by the Democrat candidate as he spouts off the populist message that "he's for the little guy and the rich need to pay their fare share".  Candidate Clinton did the same thing in 1992 with a popular refrain that was carefully crafted for consumption by Double-D's from sea to shining sea:   "It's the economy stupid!"  Stay tuned for a similar silly slogan in this campaign season, I'm sure a spinmeister at Obama, Inc. is working feverishly on one!

There are other similarities besides the economic circumstances that make this year a dead ringer for the "1992 Redux Award".  Take a look at the candidates themselves.  The McCains are exceedingly wealthy and moderate Republicans at best just as George and Barbara Bush were in 1992.  I have no doubt that McCain could be coaxed into violating a "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge just as Bush 41 was by House Speaker Jim Wright and the rest of his merry cohorts.  On the Democrat side of the ticket, the Obamas are literally carbon copies of the Clintons.  Both have ties to the radical leftist ideologies of Saul Alinsky and have almost no policy differences whatsoever such as in the case of:

1) socialized medicine for all with very minor policy differences
2) illegal immigration- citizenship, handouts and healthcare for all 15 to 20 million illegals
3) treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue which led to 9/11
4) taking over the private sector to make things more fair (oil companies specifically)
5) redistribution of wealth to those who are "less fortunate"
6) espousing counter-culturalist positions on family matters such as marriage and adoption

An even funnier coincidence with the Clintons and Obamas is that the spouse in each case, is the driving force in the advancement of a counter-culturalist agenda.  If elected, we will see Michelle Obama assume the co-presidency mantle just as Hillary did in 1993 when Al Gore's picture was taken down and relegated to a coat-room down the hallway!  Remember that?

Perhaps the scariest similarity to 1992 is the presence of a 3rd party candidate!  Yes, the role of Ross Perot in this year's election sequel will be played by Bob Barr, a former Republican Congressman from Georgia.  Mister Barr is running as the libertarian candidate and his presence will do nothing but help Obama pull off the same "Trojan-horse candidacy" victory that Clinton/Gore pulled off 16 years ago.  Keep in mind that Bill Clinton only got 43 percent of the vote in 1992, while Ross Perot gathered 19 percent.  Even the most liberal political analysts candidly admit that most of Perot's votes would have gone to George H.W. Bush.  Thanks alot Ross, nice work!

So there you have it, enough proof to convince you that it's 1992 all over again.  Except this time, the leftists who infest the Democrat party are in absolute control.  They are maniacal in their lust to gain back control of the White House and will stop at nothing to take McCain out hard-core!  Reports are coming in that left-wing websites are stooping so low as to denigrate his military service while held as a POW in Vietnam.  Some are saying he engaged in illegal bombing runs, committed war crimes and gave up military secrets via taped confessions while held in captivity.  Why would leftists dig deep into such a horrific period of a man's life and float such rumors?  The answer is quite simple.  They know that 5 1/2 years spent being beaten and humiliated is John McCain's "achilles heel" and if they can bring up those memories, perhaps they can bring back the pain.  Bring back the pain and perhaps he can snap like a rubberband wound too tight ...... at a campaign stop, during a televised debate or somewhere else, when a television camera is lying in wait.
