Why is a 10 year anniversary any more special than a 5 year, or a 9 year for that matter? I don't know. I've never been one of these people to get wrapped around the axle on anniversaries that "end in a zero". Except when it comes to my own birthday that is!
All that aside, the victims' families, first responders and NYC officials are taking the 10 year anniversary seriously and we all should join them in paying our respects. Whether we hang a flag from our front porch, place a sign in our front yard or donate money to the charity of our choice, we all have a part to play. Not just on 9/11 of each year but EVERYDAY of our lives as Americans. It's called being a good citizen.
I became an activist after 9/11, not immediately mind you but over the ensuing months as I witnessed the media and Democrats join forces to subvert the efforts of President Bush in the War on Terror and more importantly, to wrongly blame him for the 9/11 attacks. If there is anything that pi$$es off THIS "Grassroot Trooper" folks, it is lies and distortions spread about an individual. This is unjust and goes against the principles of liberty that set America apart from all the other nations of the world.
Remember my article years ago (2007) when I asked "Are YOU a Grassroot Trooper? Do you hear lies and distortions spread about an individual or an event and your pulse begins to quicken, your pupils dialate and your nostrils begin to flare?" These were important questions because we fight a continuous "Information War" folks and will fight it for the rest of our lives. We have an incompetent, corrupt and dangerously biased mainstream media which threatens our economic and political freedom. Everyone must grow up, face it and react accordingly. The election of Barack Obama was the "coup de grace", pulled off by a media who collectively IGNORED any of his past skeletons and radical associations to instead focus on Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and who she was now dating!
So let's set the record straight, on this 10th anniversary of 9/11 for the benefit of the victims, their families and the first responders:
1) 10 years later, America IS safer and we enjoy relatively normal lives.
2) With 20/20 hindsight, we now know that Bill Clinton absolutely ignored terrorism for the 8 years of his presidency.
3) The planning for 9/11, the training of the perpetrators & the decision making by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed all took place in the 90's.
4) After 9/11, Bill Clinton sent his NSA Sandy Berger to the National Archives to STEAL DOCUMENTS so that he could hide his "dereliction of duty" by ignoring terrorism during the 90's. Berger got caught destroying said documents and was arrested, charged and convicted. I don't remember his punishment but suffice to say, it was far too lenient for that lawless scumbag.
5) It was up to George W. Bush to pick up the post-9/11 pieces and put them back together. With his trusty VP Dick Cheney, he had to formulate a domestic response in preventing further attacks and a military response overseas to pursue the perpetrators and administer justice. At the same time, he was confronted with the "Clinton Recession" that began when the "Dot Com Bubble" imploded in 2000.
6) After a 2 month period of unity, the DemocRATs embarked on a plan to defeat President Bush by subverting his efforts to keep the country safe and by eroding his credibility as president by calling him "selected not elected" in the tied 2000 election with Al Gore.
7) Our news media quickly forgot the victims of 9/11 still smoldering in the ruins & instead focused on all the nutty flag-waving patriots!
8) Captured terrorists DO NOT get habeas corpus rights and do not deserve proper treatment under the Geneva Conventions of 1955. Reason? They do not conform to the laws of warfare, do not wear uniforms and do not fight under the flag of a nation state. PERIOD!
9) Waterboarding of terrorists IS NOT torture. It causes no irreparable harm to a person and we do it to OUR OWN TROOPS!
10) Guantanomo Bay needs to stay open so that America has a place to keep these Radical Islamic "animals" off "the battlefield".
I was flying that morning, having departed Detroit Metro for Knoxville aboard a Mesaba Airlines operated Avro-liner for Northwest Airlines. As we passed Cincinnati, the seat belt sign came on suddenly (though it was smooth as a baby's bottom) and flight attendants began telling people to stow their belongings, get in their seats and prepare for a landing. Since we were still 35 minutes from Knoxville, I immediately suspected a major mechanical problem with the aircraft and became a tiny bit worried. Imagine my wonderment as we continued on our southbound course for Knoxville at cruise altitude and constant speed. Dozens of questions began to formulate in my brain as to what in the world could be going on: Was their a problem with the air traffic control center radar system, or a communications outage perhaps? Was the mechanical problem with the airplane suddenly resolved? Was their a crew conflict on the flight deck and now they had it resolved?
I will never forget the tension in the cabin that day which was born of uncertainty. As we neared Knoxville, that tension gave was to a palpable fear that EVERYONE could feel. This is the overall goal of terrorism, have people living every moment in fear. Once we got to the gate around 1030am, after what seemed like an eternity, we were informed that hi-jacked jets had hit the WTC towers. People began to cry uncontrollably or bow their heads and pray. It was as terrifying as it was depressing. I drove home in a daze not knowing if America would survive or if I would have a job the next day. At least I was lucky to be home, to be safe & I gave thanks to God above for that.
