The recent repudiation of Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN3) in the Tennessee Governor primary on August 5th has frankly scared me like a democRAT voter in August of 1996 when welfare reform was signed by "BJ" Clinton!
That's right folks. As a devout Tennessean who loves this state with every fibre of his being, I cannot for the life of me, comprehend how a "plutocrat-politician" like Bill "Big Oil" Haslam was able to beat a "Reagan-esque" conservative statesman like Zach Wamp.
Wamp has a 15 year record in the U.S. House of Representatives of absolute devotion to our Founding Documents and he scared the living "dogsqueeze" out of leftists like SCOTUS Justice Elena Kagan who seek to re-write the Constitution at every turn for the good of government. He assembled a team of admirable managers who could promulgate his "20/20 Vision for Tennessee" to all of our 95 counties. He had dutiful bloggers like "your truly" out trumpeting the message from electronic "rooftops" unabashedly to help save Tennessee....and a nation from the assault of a charismatic Marxist demagogue named Barack Hussein Obama.
But much like Barry Goldwater in 1964, our statesman went down to defeat. The question is: Why? I believe it has to do with something that I've opined about (ad nauseum) for almost 5 years on the Meat and Potatoes Blog. Any guesses as to what I'm talking about? :)
We are a nation that is too concerned with winning "American Idol" than we are with winning "American Freedom"! I ask you Tennessee folks, whom I adore tremendously: "How many times did you hear someone talking about the virtues of Bill Haslam's agenda for our state and his conservative record of leadership?" All they heard about was a "wascally Washington Republican named Zach Wamp"! lol
Much like Americans in 1964, Tennesseans were DUPED into believing a facade. Back then it was the "Daisy Ad" where LBJ tried to convince people that Barry Goldwater would embroil us in a nuclear war. Today, it was a "Washington Panic", where the Haslam team was successful in linking Zach Wamp to 4 years of radical and reckless democRAT control of Congress.
Tennesseans better wake-up real fast and realize that their freedoms hang in the balance with each and every day. I hope Haslam gets up the guts to protect them, IF he's elected governor. For now, I will take a look at democRAT Mike McWherter for the election this Nov. because he seems MORE conservative than Haslam!
I believe someday that people looking back on this Republican Governor's primary will see the mistake that Tennesseans made and they will label it our "Barry Goldwater Moment".
