Over decades of good times and little strife, the American electorate has become apathetic and ignorant towards politics. Sure, many of the people out there still vote but when asked why they voted for a candidate, they will give silly, embarrassing answers such as:
1) Well he seems like a really nice guy.
2) He's got a fire in his belly for serving.
3) I like his family, they seem like nice people.
Notice what is absent? Simply, what the candidate STANDS FOR and how it aligns with the individual in question's own views. I've come up with a term for these people who vote for a candidate but don't really know why. In keeping with our annoying tendency to hyphenate the word "American", I thought I'd join the lunacy and coin another one: Igno-American.
This patriot is proud to say that I'm NOT an Igno-American and to prove it, I'll give you my Top 10 reasons why I voted for Rep. Zach Wamp (R-TN3) to serve as Tennessee's next governor.
1) He is a God fearing man, who respects America's Christian heritage and cherishes the sanctity of human life.
2) He's a family man who has helped to raise 2 mature, responsible kids alongside a strong matriarch, his wife Kim.
3) He believes in the "Original Intent" of the United States Constitution and will defend it against those who seek to re-write it.
4) He knows that the ONLY way Tennesseans can enjoy true prosperity is by PRODUCING our way there. That means jobs!
5) He values education at the earliest stage of childhood development with specific emphasis on reading proficiency.
6) He understands the assault on personal firearm ownership is NOT going away, despite recent Supreme Court victories.
7) He understands intimately how Washington, DC works with its backroom deals, pork-barrel projects and unfunded mandates.
8) He will stand up to a charismatic Marxist demagogue like Barack Obama & tell him where to stuff his mandates. :-)
9) He's a man of moral courage. He does the right thing because it's the right thing to do. ALWAYS!
10) He supported our brave troops in Iraq during the darkest hour, as democRATs came within "inches" of legislating a defeat. In doing so, he laid his entire future political career on the line and gave our troops as well as the Iraqis, the time they desperately needed.
Feel free to print out this list and distribute it, post it, throw darts at it (if you're a government loving liberal) or whatever. Just be sure to give a little credit to good ole "Meat and Taters". :-)~
