Obama-Care dead, what's next?

As I wrote yesterday, Obama-Care is dead (for now).  They may try to resurrect it later on but I'm not sure when the opportunity will present itself.  Perhaps if the economy rebounds massively and we are suddenly flush with cash at the U.S. Treasury but I think I've got a better chance of marrying a supermodel before that happens folks! :-)~

So with admissions today by Kathleen Sebelius and Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) that the "public option" (which was Obama's signature issue mind you) has no chance of passing, Team Obama will push for a seriously "watered down" bill that may do things like increase oversight on insurance companies.  Oh and of course, there will be more "Czars" appointed by presidential fiat.  How nice....

But here's the real question for Grassroots Troopers out there to ponder: What do we do next?  We have all these people fired up big time over the intrusiveness of the federal government and worried about the looming debt collapse, perhaps in our lifetimes.  I say we seize the moment and start catering to these folks, not as Republicans but as "Constitutionalists"!

This is an important distinction because most people link Republican to big government just as they link democRAT.  Most people don't understand the nuances between the two parties nor do the know their history about which party has always sought to grow the size and scope of the federal government.  Our government schools are woefully inept when it comes to teaching anything, nevermind history and when it comes to the FDR-era (known by me as "Socialism Gone Wild"), millions of people have been brainwashed as to what truly went on back then! (Yes, this would include everyone's favorite young Marxist rube, Ryan.)

So, unless you want to get into a serious history lesson when deputizing Grassroots Troopers, it's best to just ask people the following: Do you believe that our federal government today is respecting the limits on it's power under the U.S. Constitution?  Then sit back and wait for a whole host of answers.  This is the crux of the issue folks and if we can't get people to consider it in a serious and thoughtful way, then I have little hope for our nation's future as a representative republic.

Nowadays I tell people "I'm a Republican by default" when they ask me what party I belong to.  They usually laugh and I continue with "Today's Republicans are too busy trying to be democRATs and the democRATs are too busy trying to be Marxists!"  I dream of a day when I can beat my chest and proudly proclaim again "I'm a Republican because my party supports and defends the U.S. Contitution!"

I hope that day comes along before I die.
