Michael Vick is back as I predicted he would be......LEAVE HIM ALONE! I couldn't believe the negativity on Fox News Channel last night about Vick's return to the Eagles. Only Charles Krauthammer (whom I adore mind you...) had the sense of mind to unequivocally state that Vick has a right to return to the NFL and rebuild his life. Bravo Charles, I knew there was a reason you received that journalism award a few months ago! :-)
Simply folks, Vick has been punished for the "al-Qaeda like" behavior he engaged in. He was punished much more severely than other public figures in our society who have committed much more eggregious acts against our civil society. To wit:
1) Bill Clinton- subverted the U.S. justice system as its Chief law enforcement officer by lying under oath, getting others to lie under oath and obstructing justice. He paid over a million in fines for this behavior and was impeached by Congress as a result. Only the cowardly acts of democRAT senators (who now hold our nation hostage) were able to avoid his removal from office, a true travesty of justice.
2) Eliot Spitzer- Worked tirelessly as Attorney General of New York to go after people engaging in prostitution but when elected as Governor of New York, guess what? He felt the rules about soliciting prostitution didn't apply to him. Has he been punished enough?
3) Sandy Berger- As Bill Clinton's NSA Chairman, he was in charge of safeguarding documents which dictated programs to ensure our national security. After leaving his position, he took orders from Bill Clinton to go into our National Archives and STEAL some of those same documents to cover up mistakes made during the Clinton Administration in dealing with terrorism. Berger was "stone cold busted" on stealing these documents, taking them out of the National Archives, hiding them under a construction trailer and destroying them. He received no real punishment except the loss of his security clearance which can be re-instated after a small period of time.
By contrast to these 3 losers, Michael Vick was truly hammered! He was pilloried in the media on a daily basis for months and he paid millions upon millions in legal fees and fines. By even a conservative measure he was destroyed financially. Further, he was paraded into a courtroom in shackles and leg irons, placed before a jury of his peers and punished with almost 2 years in jail. This guy, as reprehensible as he may appear to animal lovers (and I am one with a cat named Condi...) has paid his debt to society! Now leave him be.....

Is there more Michael Vick can do to repent for his sins? Of course! For instance, he could donate some of his football earnings (if there are any...) to the SPCA and help finance the creation of animal shelters where people can go adopt animals lacking a good home. He can go around the country during his off-season giving speeches (for free) about the importance of being humane to animals. Finally, he can work his damnedest to become a role model to children across America by reforming his life and keeping out of trouble.
Bill Clinton has apparently reformed his sorry life (but he's still a coward), perhaps Vick can too.
