Palin: The NEW Frontier

It is indeed a bittersweet day for Alaskans as their finest governor steps down to save America from President Barack Hussein Obama. Remember my thesis of what Sarah Palin is up to?  If not, delve into my voluminous archives and do a little light reading.  Your intellect will be stimulated as you read things not available through more erudite political analysis.  Keep in mind that the allure of the Meat and Potatoes Blog is that I give you the "meat and potatoes" of what the heck is going on in the world of politics, without all the flowery and confusing "inside the beltway" speak.

All the media can say about Sarah Palin these days is that her future is uncertain but consider this:  Her future is no more uncertain than that of the United States.  I don't care what the stock market indexes are doing in the short term, the longer term trend is downhill for this country and if you don't get that FACT, just take a look at our currency over 30 years versus other industrialized nations.  The dollar is losing value every year, to wit:  In the 1970's, one US dollar was equal to about 380 Japanese yen.  Today, it's about 95 yen no kidding!

Meanwhile, our entitlement system of "handouts you can believe in" is by every measure BANKRUPT.  Social In-Security, Medicare and other programs which people consider a "birthright" are running out of money in your lifetime.  America hasn't the wealth or the industrial dominance to develop the wealth necessary to fuel these programs run amock.  Like sands through an hourglass, time is running out for a country currently on a glidepath to financial implosion.  All we can do is rob funding from some programs (such as the military) and direct it at the gargantuan, growing out of control welfare state.

When things are this hopeless and uncertain, where do you turn and what do you do?  The only answer is to try a totally new approach, one that hasn't been tried in a long time.  The answer?  Conservatism.  It hasn't been tried since the 1980's and even so, it wasn't tried to its full extent due to the FACT that the Congress was controlled by leftist democRATs for almost all of the 1980's.  Idiots like Robert Byrd and Ted Kennedy were in charge even back then and President Reagan had to contend with them.

We need a government that is, for once, conservative in ALL aspects.  As such, this government will respect the limits on governmental power set forth in the U.S. Constitution.  Remember that little concept (insignificant to leftists) called Federalism?  If not, look it up in my archives or through other sources such as The Heritage Foundation.  Today's federal government wouldn't know the concept of federalism if it came up and kicked it in the knockers!  So where in tarnation am I going with all this?

I believe with every ounce of my integrity that Sarah Palin can lead this country out of the darkness we find ourselves plunging into with the Obama administration and what I've referred to as the "Democrat Crazy Train" (Whoooo-Whoooo!).  In order for this to happen, a way must be found to wake up a sleeping electorate of ignorant and apathetic souls.  My hope is that the deep economic pain we experience today will facilitate this awakening but one can never be sure.  This is why strong leadership is needed by someone who can teach people about our past mistakes in straying from the Constitution and its founding principles.
