"And that's the way it is" tonight folks as the best example of leftist media bias is no longer in our midst, thank God. Walter Cronkite bid us a fond farewell and now God has to deal with him. Who knows what will happen to his soul. For you atheist leftists out there, he's just plain gone and his memory will live on in shame for a few minutes or hours, I guess.
Cronkite's claim to shame was helping the Democrat party undermine the sacrifice of 58,000 men in the Vietnam War. When Walter declared the war lost, it was curtains for sure and the support for the war took a slow, painful nosedive. Within a few years, Democrats were able to cut-off funding for the war and that led to a slow pull-out of troops.....before South Vietnam was ready to take on the north (and the Soviet Union) by themselves. Eventually in 1975, the communists were able to advance on Saigon and America was handed a stinging defeat. Millions of people in South Vietnam who helped the Americans were either killed or made to suffer and I'm sure their families are big Democrat supporters to this day.......NOT! Come to think of it, I'm sure these Vietnamese could trade stories with the Iraq families who also felt the effects of Democrat subversion in a war as they made it MUCH more difficult to win. But that's another story for another time. At least the outcome was different this time, thanks to talk radio, Fox News and the internet. :-)
I doubt Cronkite died a happy man as he watched his "state run mews media" disintegrate at the hands of a "new media". Driven by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, this new media has taken over the essential job of disseminating information that is so vital in a democracy like ours. I know many people who haven't tuned in to CBS News since the early 1980's when Dan Rather took the helm and none of us will ever tune them in again. The "state run media" have lied to us and lost our trust. Once trust is lost, it is a very difficult thing to regain no matter how hard an individual or an entity tries. What do you think Cronkite felt when Mary Mapes was fired and Dan Rather had to resign in shame over the use of FABRICATED MEMOS as they tried to subvert a presidential election in 2004? I'm sure his heart was heavy with disgust and even a little outrage at what CBS (emphasis on the BS) has become in modern times.
So while we contemplate the future role of the "state run news media" in America, Walter's soul is crying up in heaven. Why? Because he is being hounded by the thousands of souls who died in the Vietnam War. They've been waiting for Walter all these years and now they see fit to remind him of their sacrifice and how he undermined the cause for which they fought and died.
Personally, if I was one of them, I would kick his sorry rear-end to Kingdom Come!
