Folks, your tired and weary Grassroot Trooper is home for the night and saw nothing of the Sotomayor confirmation hearings in DC today. I've not tuned into talk radio nor have I searched out opinions on other blogs as I have just now arrived home at the Combat Information Center in East Tennessee. But I do have some thoughts for you to ponder:
We Constitutionalists must advocate a FILIBUSTER of this judge for 2 reasons. I wrote an entry several weeks ago about Sotomayor and I stand by what I wrote without any mental reservation whatsoever. The entry was named "Filibuster we must!", here's a link:
I know the Republican party is infested with troublesome traitors but we must demand that they stick together when it comes to giving our precious Constitution its much needed protection. This candidate for the Supreme Court poses a risk to that founding document because of two undeniable truisms that I have witnessed with my own two eyes:
1) She is a racist - this woman has made statements time and time again that a latin woman makes better decisions than a white man. Any time you believe that one race is superior to another race in any capacity, you are demonstrating behavior typical of a racist. How can we expect impartiality of someone who thinks one race is superior to another?
As I wrote on Twitter: "
As a white male, I would not want want to be sued by a "Latina" plaintiff and end up in Sonia Sotomayor's courtroom. I'd get my rear-end kicked!"
2) She is an activist judge - She admitted with a wink and a nod (and to much laughter) at a Duke University forum that judges aren't supposed to create law from the bench but....... Later on she candidly admitted that she sees the role of a judge as one which creates policy. Can you believe this? Policy creation is the job of ELECTED officials who are accountable to the electorate. Supreme Court justices are appointed by the president and serve for life, as such they are absolutely unaccountable to the electorate. Allowing them to make law by "judicial fiat" is unadulterated INSANITY!
So much is changing in this country with an out-of-control Legislative and Executive branch that roll forward like a column of unstoppable panzer tanks in WWII. How do we stop them? Sadly, we cannot stop the Congress until 2010 and Obama until 2012. But we can stop the JUDICIAL branch from crushing our society with the type of lawless judicial activism that makes us give illegal aliens public education!
How do we do this? By informing ourselves, mobilizing, drafting and alerting other Grassroots Troopers. These confirmation hearings will drag on through the "Dog Days of Summer" and if we apply vise-like pressure to our elected representatives, I suspect the heat will turn up on Sotomayor as well. Her "achilles heal" is HER OWN STATEMENTS as they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, her character misgivings and her unsuitability as a justice on the U.S. Supreme Court!
