Occasionally, eyeballs in China will glance at the Meat and Potatoes Blog. Thus, I see fit to write them this open letter for all to see.
Dear China:
May I say your cuisine is excellent and the only thing which surpasses it? Your manufacturing capacity. I'm impressed by the growth of your country in a very short time and would have the utmost respect for you if it had not been for that little incident at Tiananmen Square 20 years ago THIS WEEK. Very sad to see your own citizens mowed down and crushed by tanks for trying to engage in a peaceful protest. You know that freedom and liberty thing? You should look into it.
Moving along, there is this little issue you folks have with us about our outstanding debt. What is it up to these days, about 1.3 trillion dollars? How do I break this to you China...... You are never going to see a penny of this money and even if you do see a penny, it will be worthless, inflated currency that comes fresh off a printing press at the Federal Reserve. I'll bet you really want some of that! :-)
You see, America is a declining debtor nation in crisis, sort of like your neighbor next door who drinks like a fish, got fired from his job and is going through a nasty divorce. Would you lend that guy a penny of your hard earned cash? Didn't think so!
So why do you lend America more and more money? We have over 70 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities for social security, medicare and other FDR-era programs that are going to go "belly-up". We can't pay for those programs, nevermind send some "green" your way! If I were you, here's what I would do China.....
Just cut America off! That's right! Go tell Geithner and Clinton to pound sand next time they beg for you to buy more of our debt. Heck, I would go a step further and start cashing in our bonds. You don't need the interest from these bonds any longer, you're already the most prosperous nation in the world today. You've built up your manufacturing capacity (thanks to the good ole USA) to the point where you can supply your own people and the rest of the world with everything it needs. So go ahead and "cut the cord" already.
You'll be better off for it China and you know what? America will be better off because this country is headed for the GREATEST of all depressions someday anyways. It's not a matter of IF...... it's a matter of WHEN. All you do by continuously financing our debt is delay the inevitable China. Just "pull the plug" and leave us alone either to grow up and wake up.....or die.
