We are embroiled in very challenging times for our nation and the road ahead will be a tough one. If you feast on a regular diet of "Meat and Taters", you know that I talk at length about the national debt. This debt will NEVER be paid back and with time, just paying the interest on the debt will be a challenge for our country. The sad fact is that America has become a declining debtor nation and the American voter is to blame since he/she elected the irresponsible idiots who allowed this to happen.
I have come to the conclusion that America is no longer a world's superpower. Sure our military is the envy of the world but we don't have the wealth any longer or the productive manufacturing capacity to power such a military on a grandiose scale. Look how the effort in Iraq and Afghanistan has strained our military and worn out its equipment.. Going forward, the biggest challenge to our country (in addition to our debt) is to break free of the dependence we have on other nations to manufacture the things we used to make ourselves.
This will require a second "Industrial Revolution" in America and will be much more challenging than the one in the latter half of the 19th century because this time we will have to compete with a global economy in possession of a nice head-start. Just some things to think about before the next election season or perhaps even the next Tea Party on July 4th. While you're at it, you might want to let folks know where you were confronted by such lucid thoughts, courtesy of that relentless "modern day Paul Revere", Mister Meat and Taters!
I wrote about America's decline last year, read on and learn about the reasons behind it. Only by looking at our mistakes can we hope to survive going forward into the future.
I FEAR for an America in decline
by the INFORMER October 25, 2008
This may be my last post before the election and might even be my last post for quite some time. I have said everything I can say about this election and the choice before us but there is something I haven't talked about: The state of the American electorate today and why WE are so responsible for all these problems. We are an America in decline today and the financial tsunami we are witnessing is the clearest and most convincing proof I can find that the electorate has been sending the wrong people to Washington!
Simply stated, government has created the conditions for our current national nightmare but who is responsible for the composition of our government? Whether it be the energy crisis that kicked the living hell out of the auto and airline industry or the housing bubble that left us reeling, the proof is clear. The roots of socialism have grown into this economy over 75 years and most Americans don't even get it! We have an ignorant, disengaged, apathetic and lazy electorate ladies and gentleman. This electorate has abdicated its responsibility to support and defend the Constitution, let alone even understand the Constitution. Most people can't name their Congressman or Senators at the federal level and haven't a clue about how government functions. They will go into the voting booth and blindly vote for a demagogue like Barack Obama because their union boss said to, their neighbor said to or simply because they recognize his name. When asked why they voted for him, these people will say "Because it's time for a change" with no other specifics which indicate an understanding of his policies for the future. This is a scary reality and makes me fear for the future of my country.
The real genesis of the downward spiral our nation faces can be traced back to when another expert demagogue was elected to high office, that man was FDR. He was able to seize power, place socialists on the Supreme Court and unleash a package of New Deal government control that plagues us to present day. Ergo welfare programs, social security, Fannie Mae and other government run amock. These programs ran roughshod over the U.S. Constitution but Roosevelt's restructured Supreme Court gave him the rubber stamp of approval and poorly educated voters re-elected him to as many terms as his lifespan could handle. Roosevelt set the standard playbook for all Democrats who followed in his footsteps: spew jealousy, hatred and despair amongst the middle class towards wealthier people who own businesses and create jobs so that government can rush in and establish fairness by seizing power.
This model has worked great for government as it has swallowed up more and more of the private sector but it's been a disaster for those of us who don't dine at the government's table. The programs created by Roosevelt have become "sarcred cows", unable to be skewered and their budgets are growing at alarming rates. Most people don't understand this, nor do they care. So long as their I-Phone is working and "American Idol" is on at the proper time, it's all good. Eventually, they WILL care......when disaster strikes.
Disaster will strike when countries no longer have faith in America's ability to pay back its debts. We are already in debt over 9 trillion dollars and the future UNFUNDED LIABILITIES of social security and other FDR era programs have a price-tab of 70 trillion bucks! Once we are judged a financial failure by the rest of the world and they no longer buy our bonds, we will only have one option to pay our massive financial obligations: print money just like the Weimar Republic. Our currency will become absolutely worthless and it will only be a matter of time before we witness absolute financial implosion of our economy with no alternative but to redefine the currency and start over or join some form of a globalistic currency such as a "euro-dollar".
Sorry to be such a depressing pragmatist folks but there's a storm front on the horizon and it's my duty to scream from the rooftops. Now, all you Grassroots Troopers get out there and do your duty, for God and country. Inform your neighbors, friends and co-workers. If they remain asleep, this nation is doomed for many years to come.
