Meat and Taters Loyalists know that I've called this Congress the Democrat Crazy Train for quite some time now. It's gotten so bad up there in DC that I think they should play Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" right before starting each daily session.
Simply, the apathetic and ignorant American public has given seemingly inexplicable control of Congress by greater margins to Democrats. This enables them to enjoy an almost "filibuster-proof" majority in the U.S. Senate. The last time they enjoyed such unstoppable control was 1977 (the Jimmy Carter era...BARFF!) where they passed such gems as the Community Reinvestment Act. Boy what a helpful piece of legislation that one turned out to be.....NOT! It created the housing bubble which resulted in a sub-prime mortgage meltdown crisis and gave us the mess we're in today.
Keep in mind what I said earlier, Democrats enjoy an "almost Filibuster-Proof" majority and when it comes to passing an Obama budget with close to TRILLION dollar a year deficits for as far as the eye can see, resistance may be insurmountable. Even Democrats may get a case of cold feet and vote down the measure. Ahhh, but the Democrat Crazy Train will make a detour to avoid that possibility.
By invoking what is known as "Budget Reconciliation" and using it in a way that was NEVER intended, the Democrats can suspend the Senate rules in the U.S. Constitution and require only a simple majority (i.e. 51 out of 100) to pass Obama's budget. Contained in this budget is something I've called the "Holy Grail" for statists: Socialized Health-Care. These leftist Democrats have longed to place all citizens under government controlled and rationed healthcare practically since the day they were born. FDR wanted it back in the 1930's but was too busy building dams and taking farmland from East Tennesseans to bother with it. Now, with 1/2 of the country completely in the dark as to what the hell is going on in Washington, the disciples of FDR see their moment to finish the job.
So who's to stop them? Who will put their foot down and say "No!" to Constitutional tyranny on such a grandiose scale? The answer my fellow Grassroots Trooper, better be YOU! If Obama's minnions in Congress want to pass this 3.5 TRILLION dollar monstrosity and at the same time socialize yet another sector of our economy, let them go ahead and try it. But they better damn well follow the rules of the Constitution as written at the convention in 1787. It was the Senate's own "posterboy for statism" Chucky Schumer (D-NY) who once said that the U.S. Senate is intended to be the "cooling saucer of democracy" where legislation is slowed down, debated at length, closely examined and compromised upon. What does ole Schumer say about the Democrat Crazy Train this time? "ALLL ABOARRRD!"
Why don't you call Chucky "Schmucky" Schumer and ask him? And while you're at it, ask him if the tick that bit him, ever recovered!
