Today folks, we witnessed an undeniable truth of what makes President Obama tick. With the "dumpster trip" for long deposed South Dakota Senator Thomas Daschle now in the rear view mirror, we learn that Obama is in fact, a PRAGMATIST. By this I mean, he operates from a standpoint of doing what makes the most sense at that point in time. He's a practical thinker, a chameleon much like Bill Clinton was during his time in the Oval Office. You would think this is a good thing but there is a downside.
The downside is that being a pragmatist, Obama is not a principled leader. The two run contrary to one another, you either operate on principle or you operate on what makes the most sense at the moment. If Obama had operated on principle, he would have asked the previous tax cheat, Timothy Geithner to turn down his Treasury Secretary nomination, he did not. So too with Daschle, the same tax issues surfaced and it was only when the "drip, drip, drip" of hypocrisy and corruption reached a crescendo that Obama pulled the plug and told Daschle he had to hit the road.
This is political pragmatism folks and now we have an insight into President Obama's decision making for the next 4 years. By the way, in case any of you are wondering, former President Bush was not a pragmatist or we would have pulled out of Iraq in early 2006, run with our tails between our legs and allowed untold thousands of Iraqis to be slaughtered for having helped us in the first place!
