Sure, he's no kid but last night Fred Thompson convinced us why he is certainly not too lazy or tired to be our president! The guy was out there swinging with a witty repartee and a full frontal assault on Huckabee that put him into the corner as he was depicted for a liberal wolf in conservative sheep's clothing! Now, this wasn't the first debate where Thompson shined, no no. You may not remember but his performance at the Iowa debate was also memorable for a different reason. That time, he stood up to the moderator who desired a show of hands as to which candidates felt that global climate change was a serious threat and caused by human activity. Thompson called the woman on her request and said he would not be participating in any hand raising over this issue. As soon as Fred took the LEADERSHIP ROLE, others joined in and said they too would not answer a debate question in such a silly and juvenile manner. Had Thompson been absent at this debate, I can bet you dollars to donuts that the others on that stage would have played the moderator's game without question. Fred Thompson is a courageous Reagan-esque leader who is willing to take on the tough issues facing our country. You can spew the media talking points that he looks old and tired but the fact remains, time and time again it is Fred Thompson who is bringing up the BIG ISSUES that are of catastrophic consequence to this challenged nation. One debate, he brought up the subject of the National Education Association's drastic negative impact on our public schools. Another time, he made clear that the social security entitlement system is going broke and a fix MUST be undertaken by a courageous leader who can talk directly to the American people and go above the heads of stubborn politicians who only want to play politics for their own selfish gain. America is better than this and so is Fred Thompson!
As much as Fred Thompson is articulating his conservative vision and making his comeback, he cannot stop the mainstream media from starving him to death. Their plan is to boycott him as much as they possibly can and by doing so, the campaign money will chase Huckabee or McCain! Thompson will slowly wither on the vine, as the saying goes and nothing could please the worried socialists from coast to coast more. Thompson needed to hit a home run last night and he SURE AS HELL DID! Now, he needs to build on this momentum and BECOME THE MEDIA STORY! What better way to do it than by becoming the new "Come-Back Kid".
