Fool me once, shame on U. Fool me twice, kill me.

Remember all those claims that the Bush administration "cherry picked" intelligence in their rush to war in the middle east?  We were told that those dastardly "neo-cons" exaggerated, twisted and even lied about pre-war intelligence so that  the President could secure all that oil for his buddies at Valero, Haliburton and others.

Well looky looky, who's choosing to believe certain intelligence now?  The "drive by media" as they attempted to hammer the President at a morning press conference.  Subject matter:  a recent leaked report by the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) that CLAIMS Iran stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003.   Over and over, the out-of-touch reporters tried to stump the president and pass off the notion that he is "sabre rattling" over nothing and that Iran could even be one of our closest buddies in a few more months!  Awww, wouldn't that be so nice?

BALDERDASH!  We got burned by rotten intelligence before and we won't be burned again!  Remember that clever saying "Burn me once, shame on you.  Burn me twice, shame on me"?  Well until this country gets its intelligence woes under control with proper funding and competent leadership, let's just play it safe folks.  As far as I'm concerned, Iran is STILL a grave threat.

If I was advising the President this morning here is what I would have had him say:  "Ladies and gentlemen, I would love to trust this report by one of our most valued intelligence agencies.  But the last time I trusted the same kind of intelligence, I was called a LIAR by the media and other left-wing losers.  So, to avoid being called a LIAR in the future, I am going to assume Iran is still working on a nuclear weapons program.  If I end up being right or wrong, who cares?  My decision will prevent each one of you from possibly dying in a nuclear holocaust and I'll bet you're glad I made that decision.........AREN'T YOU?"
